I have treated many different types of addictions from drugs to sex to food to people pleasing. I have worked in substance abuse for 10 years and am myself 12 years in recovery. My approach takes your preferences into consideration. I believe in getting to the root of the problem by working on your trauma, but also teach you coping skills for staying sober today.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapy using less verbal communication and bilateral stimulation to reach the layers of your mind that hold your trauma but can also heal it. Dive deep into your subconscious and discover the answers you have been looking for.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy also uses bilateral stimulation to access your subconscious mind. In ART we are able to alter your memories in a way that they evoke pleasant feelings instead of negative ones. This therapy works well for people with a vivid imagination.
Sand tray therapy uses the tools of figurines placed into a sand tray to compose a three dimensional image of your thoughts and feelings. This therapy works well for children and clients who like to express themselves through art, images or metaphors.
Internal Family Systems posits that we all have many parts within our mind, who are bringing out the different sides of ourselves. We are frightened children and critical parents, rebellious teens, and reliable employees. In this therapy there are "no bad parts" as we strive to get in touch with our inner family and help
our parts express themselves in
a healthy way.
Mindfulness therapy involves becoming more aware of yourself and your environment by practicing being in the now. This can include meditation, Yoga, Thai Chi, Qigong, Martial Arts, Grounding techniques, Breath work, observing nature, mindful eating, and many others. I'm a big proponent of mindfulness practice and Yoga.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is basically "the regular stuff" where we just talk. Many times it may seem like we are "just talking", but rest assured that I am listening carefully for anything that stands out, and will challenge your thoughts with comments and questions, which may sometimes change your perspective on a situation, and with that, your behavior.

I am a qualified supervisor for registered clinical social work interns. I have worked in the field for 10 years and would like to pass on my knowledge to someone who is just getting started. I can meet you in person or online once per week. I offer group sessions as well for a reduced rate.

Working with veterans of all branches and time frames, I have come to truly appreciate the sacrifice our service men and women have made. As the need for a support group with clinical guidance arose, I decided to cater to this need. Groups are open to any veteran and are held on the second Saturday of the month at (Location TBD).
